Despite an Increase in Boeing Deliveries in 2021, Airbus Still Leads

Boeing boasted 340 deliveries last year, up from 157 in 2020, thanks to the return of the MAX model. In 2021, Boeing still trails Airbus with 611 deliveries.

Passenger traffic is expected to return to pre-pandemic levels in 2023 or 2024, and long-term growth is expected to continue.

Boeing is in detailed discussions with regulators about resuming deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner after an additional $1 billion cost.

For 2021, Boeing had net orders for 535 commercial planes, and had scored a record number of new orders for freighters.
